About Obscura

Hi. I'm Sam.

I took my GCSEs in the summer of 2024. Initially, I struggled with revision as I felt overwhelmed by the huge specifications.

I decided to try and make my revision more enjoyable by combining it with something I enjoy - web design and development. And so, for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, I created my own digital flashcards, quizzes, and exam question practise only using the specification to result in a focused and effective revision resource that made it easier for my to memorise and test my knowledge and identify the areas that I needed to improve.

I published my resources for free online so that other GCSE students could use the same resources. But as more students discovered them, and traffic to the website increased, I began incurring server costs.

Today, I charge a small fee for access which helps me to cover the costs of running and maintaining Obscura while still keeping the resources available to as many students as possible.

I've now adapted the resources to fit the different tiers (higher and foundation), and pathways (triple and combined) so that the resources are only relevant to each student's individual course.

Obscura isn’t designed to replace your teachers, textbooks or lessons. Instead, it’s designed to make the time you spend revising more focused and productive. Rather than simply rereading pages of notes, Obscura gives you resources that encourage you to actively recall information, test your understanding and practise applying your knowledge to exam questions.

I built the resources because they were what I wanted when I was revising for my own GCSEs. Now, they’re here to help you spend less time figuring out how to revise, and more time actually revising effectivley.
